Here I offer a 1950's vintage top of the line radiation survey meter/ geiger counter. This Detectron DR 299 was one of the most expensive and most sensitive prospecting radiation detecting instruments available in the 1950's. It was Made in the USA by Detectron Corp. of North Hollywood California. This unit uses 25, yes I said 25 geiger muller tubes for super sensitivity!! This unit weighs nearly 10 pounds without batteries!! The operating condition is unknown as i don't have the "B' batteries necessary for operation. Comes complete with Manual, external probe, and tray for directly analysing radioactive ores. Leather case is fair but needs some restitching. Battery area has no corrosion. Because i have no way of testing,This instrument is sold as is, for parts or restoration and no return will be permitted.
